Never Let Me Go
Fastidiously reviewing
Every clenching word
Out of your beloved mouth;
Searching for an enduring spark;
Hope that this love
Will live beyond
These troubled times.
Such a daunting task
Before us,
Fixing the bugs,
Holding tight
Even when fear of an end
Makes us flinch.
Pleading for passionate contentment
To intensify
While doubt recedes.
Choosing to trust that you’ll
Keep me close
‘Til the shaking passes,
And take on faith
The vow that only death will part,
And in between
You’ll never let me go.

What a strong avowal of love and constancy. I was hoping the last line would be "We'll never let each other go".
ReplyDeleteThis was a beautiful poem and made me think about a couple going through troubles and trying their best to stay together and work things out but also at the same time fearing that things will not but never truly giving up hope. Usually most things become better with lots of time, faith and love. Also I think that a selective memory loss helps to improve a lot of things too. Then again a small part of me thinks they should take that part of until we die out of the marriage vows because it seems as if no one takes that part seriously anymore which is a sad thing and your poem shows that marriage is something that can need work and couples should never give up.
ReplyDeleteThank you for playing and sharing this wonderful poem with us for this weeks Theme Thursday. I hope you have a fun weekend surrounded by a loving family and great friends.
